Turkish Orzo Rice Recipe

Turkish orzo rice is toasted in butter, boiled in Turkish seasoning, and steamed until light and fluffy — all in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/3 cup orzo pasta
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp Turkish Spice Blend optional
Lemon Mint Sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup fresh mint chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh flat leaf parsley chopped
- salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a saucepan with lid, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the orzo and toast, stirring until browned.
- Add the rice, water, salt and seasoning. Stir to mix and bring to a boil.
- Turn heat to low, cover and steam for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and rest 10 minutes. Fluff with fork prior to serving.
- Add all sauce ingredients together and stir to combine.
- Serve with optional Lemon Mint Sauce spooned on top.

- Nutritional information for orzo rice only.
- For leftovers, let the rice cool completely and transfer to an airtight container or sealable bag and squeeze out excess air. Freeze for up to 2 months. To thaw, let come to room temp, add a tablespoon of water, cover and steam in microwave for 2-3 minutes on high heat. Fluff with fork and enjoy.
