Unsweetened Applesauce Recipe

This homemade unsweetened applesauce recipe is made with 4 simple ingredients and could not be easier! It’s ready in around 30 minutes and easily customizable. Make it as chunky or smooth as you’d like, depending on your preference. It’s much tastier than store-bought.

Ingredients
- 4 to 5 apples such as Honeycrisp peeled, cored, and diced into ½-inch pieces
- ½ cup water
- 1½ tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
- Place the diced apples, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a large pot over medium heat.
- Cover with a lid and bring the pot to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and let simmer on low for 15-20 minutes or until apples are tender and soft, stir occasionally.
- Allow the mixture to cool a bit and then use an immersion blender in the pot or transfer the apples to a blender or a food processor and blend until smooth.
- Serve or let cool and store for later.
Notes
- Yields 2½ to 3 cups of applesauce, depending on the size of the apples and the amount of water you cook out.
