Ingredients
- 2 pounds Gala apples
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional
Instructions
- Wash and peel the apples. Next, core the apples and cut them into smaller chunks.
- In a pot or saucepan, add about 2 tablespoons of water just to cover the bottom of the pot, then add the chopped apples into the pot.
- If adding a touch of cinnamon, go ahead and sprinkle cinnamon over the apples at this point.
- Cover the pot and cook covered until soft, stir occasionally for about 15-20 minutes.
- Once the apples are tender, puree them using a blender, immersion blender, or food processor.
- Allow the apple sauce to cool, and place them in a storage jar.
Notes
- Serving size nutrition facts is for one cup. It makes 2 cups in total
- Store the applesauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- Put the recipe in a freezer-safe bag, flatten the apple sauce, then freeze it in the freezer for up to two months.
- Instead of cinnamon, you can use allspice, nutmeg, etc.
- Cook the apples in a slow cooker if you can't tend to them on the stovetop. You will need to cook it in the slow cooker for about four hours.
