Vanilla Protein Shake

This Vanilla Protein Shake combines frozen banana chunks, vanilla protein powder, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk with a touch of vanilla extract and optional cinnamon and chia seeds. Blended until smooth and creamy, it yields a refreshing, moderately thick drink that balances natural fruit sweetness with vanilla flavor. The optional chia seeds add subtle texture and nutritional value, while the ice cubes chill the shake for a pleasant experience. It's a practical choice for a post-workout drink or a nutritious snack.

Description

The Vanilla Protein Shake features a blend of frozen banana pieces and vanilla protein powder, creating a creamy, smooth texture when mixed with almond milk and ice. Vanilla extract or scraped vanilla bean enhances the overall aromatic profile, while optional cinnamon provides a warm, spicy note. The chia seeds or flaxseed contribute slight thickness and body to the shake. The method involves simply blending all ingredients until uniform, allowing for easy adjustment of thickness or flavor by adding more liquid or spices.

This shake serves well as a standalone nutritious beverage or a quick source of protein and energy, especially suited for those looking for a flavorful yet straightforward smoothie option. The natural sweetness comes mainly from the banana, making added sweeteners unnecessary in most cases.

Variations include substituting the banana with frozen milk cubes or cauliflower rice to modify texture or nutritional content. Using vanilla protein powder may eliminate the need for extra vanilla extract. These alternatives help adapt the recipe to different dietary preferences or ingredient availability.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 banana in chunks, frozen
  • 1 coop (25g) protein powder (I used Nuzest vanilla)
  • 3/4 cup almond milk unsweetened vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract or scraped vanilla bean
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds optional, or flaxseed
  • handful ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients into your blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Give the shake a taste and add additional ingredients if needed for your desired texture. Pour into a cup and enjoy!

Notes

  • If using vanilla protein powder, you may want to omit the vanilla extract to avoid overpowering vanilla flavor.
  • Banana substitutes include 1 cup ice, 1 cup frozen milk cubes, or 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower rice for varied texture.
