Vegan Bolognese Sauce (With Tofu!)

This Vegan Bolognese Sauce uses crumbled tofu baked to a crispy edge, mixed into tomato sauce for a hearty texture that mimics traditional meat bolognese. The seasoning blend adds depth and a savory flavor, complementing the tangy tomato base. It serves well over cooked pasta for a filling plant-based main dish. Baking the tofu before combining with the sauce adds a firmer bite and enhances the overall texture.

Description

Vegan Bolognese Sauce (With Tofu!) combines crumbled firm tofu seasoned with nutritional yeast, soy sauce, and spices like smoked paprika and chili powder. Baking the tofu until browned and crispy provides a hearty texture that contrasts the smooth tomato sauce. Once combined, the tofu simmers gently in the sauce, creating a plant-based alternative to a traditional bolognese.

The sauce is intended to be served hot over pasta cooked according to package directions, making it a straightforward and satisfying meal. The sauce's texture is enhanced by the baked tofu pieces, which hold their shape well in the tomato.

For adjustments, the pasta quantity can be increased for a saucier dish. The sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to four days and freezes well for up to three months. Storing pasta separately helps maintain optimal texture.
