Vegan French Dressing (Oil-Free!)

This Vegan French Dressing combines apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, maple syrup, and miso for a tangy, slightly sweet, and creamy dressing without any oil. It's smooth and easy to adjust to your taste by blending ingredients with water to reach your preferred consistency. Ideal for salads requiring a flavorful but light dressing.

Description

The Vegan French Dressing (Oil-Free!) features a blend of apple cider vinegar and tomato paste that provides a tangy base balanced by the gentle sweetness of pure maple syrup. White miso adds depth and umami, while Dijon mustard contributes subtle sharpness. Smoked paprika and onion and garlic powders introduce mild spice notes. The dressing is smoothly blended with water to achieve a creamy texture despite being oil-free, making it suitable for dressing leafy salads or roasted vegetables.

The preparation involves blending all ingredients until creamy, then adjusting flavors by taste and thinning with water as needed. This method ensures a consistent texture ideal for drizzling. Without oil, the dressing is lighter but still flavorful due to the umami components and spices.

Once made, the dressing can be stored chilled in a sealed container, where it thickens slightly but can be thinned again with water. This makes it convenient for quick use within about five days.

  • Dressings tend to thicken after chilling; whisk in a splash of water to thin as desired.
  • Adjust seasoning or sweetness to your preference after blending.
