Vodka Cocktail: Chopin Spring Equinox

The Chopin Spring Equinox is a vodka-based cocktail combining Chopin vodka, elderflower liqueur, and bittersweet aperitifs with fresh lime juice and a splash of ginger beer. It is shaken with ice and served over decorative flower ice cubes for a visually striking and crisp, citrusy drink.

Description

This cocktail mixes 2 ounces of Chopin vodka with Saint Germain elderflower liqueur, Salers aperitif, Aperol, and lime juice to create a balanced blend of herbal, floral, and citrus flavors. Shaking these ingredients with ice chills and dilutes the cocktail slightly, softening the strong spirits. A splash of ginger beer on top adds effervescence and a gentle ginger spice.

The unique touch is serving the drink over flower ice cubes prepared by freezing edible pansies and green buttons in water, which provides an elegant presentation and mild herbal notes as they melt.

Notes highlight using distilled, boiled, and cooled water for clear ice cubes and ensuring flowers used are edible and free of pesticides, with caution for guests with allergies. The focus is on a crisp, refreshing cocktail with layered flavors served attractively.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ounces vodka Chopin brand
  • 3/4 ounce Saint Germain liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce Salers aperitif
  • 1/4 ounce Aperol
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • plash ginger beer

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients, with plain ice cubes, in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain over flower ice cubes. Top with a splash of ginger beer.

To make flower ice cubes

  1. In an ice mold, lay edible pansies and green buttons (see note). Gently pour water* over the flowers and freeze. Use plastic molds so the ice will be easier to remove.

Notes

  • Use distilled water that has been boiled and cooled to room temperature for clear ice cubes.
  • Fill ice trays incrementally to secure flowers and achieve clearer ice.
  • Only use edible flowers free from pesticides; avoid if you or guests have allergies, asthma, or hay fever.
