Wild Rice
Description
To make Wild Rice, start by rinsing the rice to remove excess starch and impurities. Combine the rinsed wild rice with kosher salt and water in a pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 50 to 55 minutes until the grains open and are tender. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes to steam gently. Finally, drain any remaining water before serving.
Wild rice has a chewy texture and an earthy, slightly nutty flavor that pairs well with robust dishes like roasted meats or sautéed vegetables. It can be served as a side or incorporated into salads, soups, or stuffing recipes.
