Yum Yum Sauce

Yum Yum Sauce combines mayonnaise, ketchup, and melted butter with mirin, rice vinegar, and a blend of paprika, garlic, and onion powders for a tangy, creamy condiment. A touch of sugar balances the flavor, and optional hot sauce or smoked paprika can add heat or smokiness. After chilling, it develops a smooth, versatile sauce consistency perfect for dipping or drizzling.

Description

Yum Yum Sauce is a creamy blend centered on mayonnaise enhanced by ketchup and melted butter. It incorporates Asian elements like mirin and rice vinegar to provide mild acidity and a subtle sweetness from sugar. The addition of paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder layers gentle spice and aroma without overwhelming the palate. Flavor develops further with optional additions of hot sauce or smoked paprika for warmth or earthiness. The sauce is mixed thoroughly and refrigerated for at least two hours, preferably overnight, allowing the flavors to meld and the texture to set. This chilled sauce holds well for up to a week and serves as a versatile accompaniment to grilled dishes, seafood, or salads where a creamy, tangy dip is desired.
