Zucchini Sticks
Description
To prepare zucchini sticks, the vegetable is first cut into uniform strips to ensure even cooking. They are dredged in three successive layers: a flour mixture seasoned with salt and pepper, an egg wash to bind, and a breadcrumb-Parmesan blend adding crispness and flavor. Deep frying at 350°F creates a crunchy outside while cooking the zucchini inside until tender.
The addition of Parmesan cheese into the breadcrumb mixture lends a salty, nutty dimension complementing the zucchini’s mild taste. Serving the sticks with warm marinara sauce introduces acidity and a tomato garnish that balances the richness of fried coating.
This recipe provides a straightforward method to enjoy zucchini as a finger food with familiar textures reminiscent of fried snacks but with a vegetable base. The coatings and frying temperature are key to achieving the right crunchy texture and golden color.
