2-Ingredient Vietnamese Coffee Popsicles

These Vietnamese Coffee Popsicles blend the strong, rich flavor of brewed Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk, frozen into a refreshing treat. The recipe uses only condensed milk and hot brewed coffee, poured into molds and frozen overnight, resulting in a creamy, sweet ice pop capturing the classic coffee taste.

Description

2-Ingredient Vietnamese Coffee Popsicles recreate the popular Vietnamese iced coffee in a frozen format. The key components are strong brewed coffee, made by filtering ground coffee through a Vietnamese phin, and sweetened condensed milk stirred into the hot coffee to sweeten and thicken it. Once combined and cooled, the mixture is poured into popsicle molds and frozen.

The texture of the popsicles is both creamy from the condensed milk and slightly firm from the coffee liquid, offering a coffee flavor that is sweet yet robust. The recipe notes emphasize inserting the popsicle sticks before pouring the liquid if using flexible silicone molds for ease of assembly.

This dessert works as a cool afternoon refreshment, especially for coffee lovers who enjoy the unique sweetness and depth of Vietnamese coffee. It can be stored in the freezer and enjoyed as a simple iced coffee alternative during warmer weather.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 70 ml condensed milk
  • 240 ml water hot, boiled
  • 15 g ground coffee

Instructions

  1. Measure out the condensed milk into a heat-resistant jar or glass.
  2. Make the Vietnamese coffee by placing ground coffee (about 2 heaped tablespoons) into a metal phin and pour hot water over top.
  3. Note: the amount of water that a single-serve phin can hold is about 4 oz, or half a cup. Once the initial water has stopped dripping, you will pour in a second round of hot water through the phin to make 8 oz (1 cup) of coffee.
  4. Stir the coffee with the condensed milk and let it cool.
  5. Note: If you use a silicone popsicle mold, be sure to insert the popsicle stick first prior to pouring in the coffee.
  6. To make the popsicles, pour the cooled coffee into popsicle molds, stick in a wooden popsicle stick and freeze overnight.
