5-Minute Shrikhand Recipe

5-Minute Shrikhand is a quick Indian dessert made by blending smooth Greek yogurt with saffron-infused water, powdered sugar, ground cardamom, and crushed nuts. The result is a creamy, aromatic sweet dish flavored with warm spices and soft-textured nuts, served chilled to refresh the palate and suit warm climates or as a light finish to meals.

Description

This easy Shrikhand recipe starts by smoothing Greek yogurt in a bowl to a creamy consistency. Saffron threads are soaked briefly in lukewarm water to release their color and aroma, which is then added to the yogurt along with powdered sugar and ground green cardamom, infusing the mixture with sweet and warm flavors. Crushed pistachios and almonds are folded in, adding texture and subtle nutty notes.

The dessert is chilled before serving, allowing the flavors to meld and intensify slightly. The saffron imparts a delicate floral and earthy scent, complemented by the fragrant cardamom. The nuts provide a contrast to the smooth, rich yogurt, while the powdered sugar balances tartness with sweetness. This preparation yields a traditional, simple, yet flavorful Indian sweet that can be garnished further if desired.
