Air Fryer Apple Crisp
Description
Air Fryer Apple Crisp features peeled and diced apples tossed with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. The apples are first air fried covered, allowing them to soften, before being topped with a mixture of rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter. A brief second air fry crisps the topping, providing a contrast in textures between the soft fruit and crumbly crust. This method streamlines the crisp preparation using the air fryer without a traditional oven.
The combination of cinnamon and brown sugar accentuates the apples' sweetness, while the lemon juice prevents browning and adds a hint of brightness. The topping's buttery oats provide crunch and richness. Serving the crisp warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel sauce enhances the dessert's comforting appeal.
Use oven-safe baking dishes that fit your air fryer; smaller ramekins may require longer cook times before topping. You can make this dessert vegan by substituting butter with coconut or vegan butter. Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to five days and reheat nicely in the air fryer. For freezing, cover dishes tightly and freeze up to three months, thawing overnight before reheating.
Ingredients
- 3 apple peeled and diced, two cups, medium
- 3 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoon rolled oats
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour gluten-free if needed
- 3 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoon butter melted
Instructions

- In a medium bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, white sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Divide the apple mixture between the prepared baking dishes.
- Cover the baking dishes with aluminum foil.
- Air fry for 10 minutes at 400°F.
- In a small bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar and melted butter. The topping mixture should be crumbly.

- Close the air fryer and air fry 5 minutes at 350°.
- Remove the crisp from the air fryer and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and caramel sauce. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use oven-safe baking dishes compatible with your air fryer size; smaller or deeper dishes may increase cooking time.
- Cut apples into uniform ½-inch pieces to ensure even cooking.
- To make vegan, replace butter with coconut oil or vegan butter in the topping.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauce, or other toppings like chocolate or fruit syrups.
- Store cooled apple crisp covered in the refrigerator up to 5 days; reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for a few minutes.
- To freeze, cover dishes tightly with foil, place in airtight containers or bags, and freeze for up to three months. Thaw overnight before reheating.
