Notes

  • This recipe is wonderful with seasonal fresh asparagus, so make the most of it while in season.
  • Prepare your asparagus by snapping one first, and then trimming the rest to that snapped one. Avoid trimming them without knowing where the best spot to trim is.
  • Season the asparagus very simply with salt and pepper, some olive oil or avocado oil to air fry it. You can flavor it once cooked endlessly. Variations below.
  • We love basket air fryers compared to toaster oven air fryers, but use your favorite one.
  • Avoid over crowding the air fryer basket. You don’t necessarily need the asparagus to be in a single layer, so some overlapping is ok.
  • Observe the cooking time based on the thickness of your asparagus and the power level of your air fryer. On average a 400 degrees F air fryer will need 6-9 minutes to cook asparagus depending on the thickness of the asparagus.
  • Dips like Blue Cheese Dressing, Whipped Feta, Nacho Cheese Sauce Recipe, Hot Honey Recipe
  • Pasta like Pasta Primavera, Pesto Pasta with Pistachio Pesto.
  • Seafood like Salmon Bowl, Pan Seared Cod, Honey Glazed Salmon
  • Chicken like Orange Chicken, Chicken Fingers, Chicken Caprese
  • Use extra spices like garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Greek or any blend before air fryer. You can drizzle some balsamic vinegar to make balsamic air fryer asparagus, or soy sauce before cooking.
  • Similarly once out of the oven you can add in some burrata cheese like we used in our Roasted Asparagus, feta, blue cheese or any other cheese.
  • Fresh balsamic tomatoes, Basil Pesto, Sun Dried Tomato Pesto or toasted nuts are great to add once the asparagus is cooked too.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days, and reheat them back in the air fryer. Use a 350 degrees F to reheat for 2-3 minutes. You can likewise freeze the cooked asparagus, thaw and reheat as above.
  • To prepare this recipe ahead of time, you can make this recipe up to 3 days in advance, store in the fridge, reheat as above and serve with grated parmesan.
