Instructions
- You can boil your eggs any way you like, using the air fryer, slow cooker, Instant Pot, or on the stovetop.
- Here are directions for soft boiled eggs on the stovetop. Put the eggs in a saucepan, covered with water, and bring the eggs to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, cover the pot with a lid and remove it from the heat. Set a timer for 6 minutes.
- No matter how you cook your eggs once they are done plunge them into a bowl of ice water for 5-10 minutes. Then dry them off and proceed with making Scotch eggs.
- Place the flour into one shallow bowl and mix with the garlic powder.
- Add the panko breadcrumbs to a separate shallow bowl and season with chili powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Beat the remaining egg and put it into a bowl by itself.
- Peel each of the boiled eggs.
- Divide the sausage into six even pieces.
- Flatten each sausage between two pieces of parchment paper, then wrap the sausage around the eggs completely.
- Roll the sausage-covered eggs in the flour, dip in the egg, and then coat the breadcrumbs.
- Place on a well-greased pan that will fit in your air fryer.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F for 3 minutes.
- Air fry the scotch eggs at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes, turning halfway through the cooking process.
Notes
- Use freshly ground sausage for the best flavor and texture.
- Experiment with different boiling times to ensure the eggs are cooked to your liking. For a softer yolk, boil the eggs for 5-6 minutes; for a firmer yolk, boil them for 7-8 minutes.
- Wet your hands with water or oil to prevent the sausage from sticking to your fingers.
- For a crispier exterior, spray the breaded scotch eggs with cooking oil before air frying.
