Air Fryer Turkey Meatballs

These air fryer turkey meatballs are made from ground dark meat turkey mixed with parmesan, panko crumbs, and seasonings including oregano and garlic powder. Cooking in the air fryer produces evenly browned, juicy meatballs with a tender texture. They finish with a quick internal temperature check to ensure they are safe and cooked through. Tossed in warm marinara and served over pasta, these meatballs offer a hands-off cooking method that yields a nicely sealed, flavorful result without frying in oil.

Description

Air Fryer Turkey Meatballs combine ground dark meat turkey with panko breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, and a blend of herbs and spices including oregano, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and a touch of crushed red pepper for mild heat. The mixture is formed into evenly sized balls using a scoop and then air fried until golden and cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F. This method creates meatballs that are moist inside with a lightly crisp exterior, avoiding excess grease. The finished meatballs can be simmered briefly in marinara sauce to add moisture and a complementary tomato flavor before serving over pasta.

The air fryer simplifies the process by allowing even cooking without turning or oil frying, resulting in a clean finish. This recipe yields a dozen meatballs suitable for a family meal. Utilizing ground turkey dark meat adds richness and moisture compared to leaner options. The seasonings balance savory, herbal, and slightly spicy notes for well-rounded flavor.

These meatballs work well served over pasta with sauce but could also be used in sandwiches or as part of an appetizer spread. Heating the marinara sauce separately and tossing the cooked meatballs in it helps retain texture while adding juiciness. The recipe emphasizes proper internal temperature to ensure safety.

  4. ** To serve I like to heat a jar of marinara sauce over med-low heat on the stove. Then, I toss the meatballs in the sauce and serve over pasta!
