Apple and Cherry Crumble
Description
The Apple and Cherry Crumble recipe begins by cooking peeled, chopped apples and stoned cherries with coconut oil and cinnamon to meld flavors and soften the fruit. A little sweetener balances the tartness. The topping is made by blending ground almonds and oats into a flour, then mixing with coconut oil and sweetener until crumbly. Once assembled, the dish bakes until the topping is crisp and golden.
This dessert offers a combination of soft, fruity filling and crunchy, nutty topping, with natural sweetness from coconut oil and added sweetener. The spices give a comforting depth, making it suitable for cooler days or any time a fruit dessert is desired.
It can be served warm with ice cream, custard, or creme fraiche, according to preference. The recipe suggests substituting cherries with blackberries or blueberries if needed, and adding chopped nuts for extra crunch. Using certified gluten-free oats ensures it fits gluten-free diets.
