Apple Galette Recipe

The Apple Galette Recipe features a rustic, free-form pie crust made with almond and all-purpose flour, filled with thinly sliced Macintosh apples tossed with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. A drizzle of melted butter adds richness before baking until golden and crisp. It can be served warm or cold, with optional accompaniments like whipped cream or ice cream.

Description

This Apple Galette combines a tender pie crust made from a mixture of almond flour, all-purpose flour, cold butter, sugar, and a pinch of salt, gently pulsed and kneaded with ice-cold water to form a dough. The dough is rolled out large and chilled before filling. The filling is made from Macintosh apple slices mixed with lemon juice to keep color, cinnamon, and sugar for sweetness and warmth. The apples are fanned out on the dough and folded into a rustic edge, sprinkled with sugar for caramelization.

Baked at 375°F for 30 to 40 minutes, the galette develops a flaky, slightly crisp crust with tender, spiced apples inside. It can be served warm immediately or cooled and stored for later. Optional serving suggestions include ice cream or whipped cream.

The notes provide useful tips for making this ahead, reheating it covered in foil, or microwaving it. It can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. The recipe allows substituting apples with other fruits or savory vegetables and notes that water quantity in dough should be adjusted to avoid it getting too wet.
