Asian London Broil

This Asian London Broil recipe is a delicious make ahead meal made in minutes the night before serving. Marinate the meat with fresh ingredients 12-24 hours before cooking, then grill for 15 minutes. Serve with rice, veggies, and a salad and dinner is complete.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup Minced fresh onion
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dried red pepper flakes
  • 2 lb London broil

Instructions

  1. Place freezer zip lock baggy inside a container (to easily add all the contents of the marinade). Add soy sauce, minced onion, brown sugar, sesame oil, toasted* sesame seeds, ginger, garlic, and red pepper. Mix well, then add in the London Broil. Seal the bag and knead all the ingredients together.
  2. Marinade for 12-24 hours.
  3. Once your ready to cook. Preheat grill to a medium-high heat. Clean prior to grilling steak.
  4. Carefully remove steak from bag, and reserve marinade.
  5. Grill for 10-16 minutes so that the steak is medium-rare to medium (depending on how you like your steak).
  6. While steak is cooking add remaining marinade in a sauce pot. Cook on medium heat until the marinade has reduced to half. Remove from heat once it's done reducing.
  7. Let the steak sit for at least 5 minutes. Once ready, slice the steak against the grain in very thin slices. After the steak is cut drizzle the reduced marinade on top. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Sealing bag - When making the marinade and sealing the bag. Make sure their is no excess air in the bag before sealing.
  • Make ahead - I like to make multiple packages of Asian London Broil marinade and freeze them for future meals.
  • Frozen - If cooking a previously frozen steak make sure your steak is completely thawed out. I suggest pulling it out the night before you want to make the dinner. Place the frozen marinaded steak in the refrigerator to thaw.
  • You never want to cook London Broil to a well done temperature. It will be very chewy and not very enjoyable! Keep it at a medium-rare to medium temperature max.
  • Toast sesame seeds prior to placing in the marinade. This will bring out a nutty flavor from the sesame seeds.
  • Sealing bag - When making the marinade and sealing the bag. Make sure their is no excess air in the bag before sealing.

  • Leftover meat? Make Asian steak and noodle wraps for lunch or dinner by using cooked spaghetti and Asian salad dressing with Julianne carrots, cucumber, and bell pepper. You can also have steak and eggs for breakfast, or a steak salad, or a steak and rice bowl. The sky is the limit on what you can do with these leftovers!
