Best Alfredo Sauce Recipe
Description
Best Alfredo Sauce Recipe starts by melting butter and gently sautéing minced garlic to release its fragrance without burning. Heavy cream is then added and simmered to slightly reduce and thicken the mixture. Freshly shredded Parmesan cheese is incorporated to develop a smooth, velvety sauce with a rich cheesy flavor. Seasoned with salt and freshly ground black pepper, the sauce complements any pasta of choice.
The sauce's creamy consistency coats pasta beautifully, offering a luscious mouthfeel with a mild garlicky and cheesy taste. Heating and simmering the sauce carefully ensures it thickens without curdling, resulting in a smooth texture.
This Alfredo sauce is best served immediately poured over freshly cooked pasta, tossed to evenly distribute the sauce. It elevates simple pasta with a rich, satisfying flavor combination.
Notes suggest storing the sauce separately in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheating is recommended on the stove with a splash of milk or cream to avoid burning and maintain creaminess. Alternatively, microwave reheating with added milk or water is possible for quicker warming.
Ingredients
- pasta for serving, of choice
- 8 tbsp butter 1 stick
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups Parmesan Cheese freshly shredded
- salt to taste, Kosher salt and freshly ground
- black pepper to taste, Kosher salt and freshly ground
Instructions
- Fill a large pot halfway with water. Bring to a boil, then add pasta and cook for the recommended amount of time on its packaging.
- While the pasta is boiling, in a medium saucepan or large saute pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter, and stir to ensure the garlic doesn't burn. Saute for one minute, you want the garlic to smell fragrant, then stir in the heavy cream.
- Let cream come to a simmer, not a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes to reduce the cream.
- Add in the parmesan cheese and stir well, the sauce should be smooth. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes, whisking occasionally to ensure the sauce is smooth and thickening.
- Season with the kosher salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately, pouring over the prepared pasta and tossing in a serving bowl..
Notes
- Store Alfredo sauce in an airtight container separately from pasta and consume within three days.
- Reheat sauce gently on the stove with a splash of milk or cream, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- For quicker reheating, microwave with 2 tablespoons of milk or water, stirring halfway through.
