Brazilian Coconut Kisses (Beijinhos de Coco)
Description
Brazilian Coconut Kisses are prepared by cooking together sweetened condensed milk, butter, and coconut flakes until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the pan. This forms a sticky, dough-like base which, once cooled, is rolled by hand into small balls. Each ball is then coated in additional coconut flakes, lending texture and enhancing the coconut taste. Optionally, a whole clove can be placed on top of each kiss for traditional flair, though it is for decoration and removed before eating.
The final confection has a chewy, fudgy texture with a smooth coconut flavor. They are often served in paper bonbon cups, making them easy to handle at gatherings. The recipe is simple, requiring minimal ingredients and no baking, relying on stovetop cooking to achieve the right consistency.
Storage options include keeping them at room temperature in an airtight container for a couple of days, refrigerating to extend freshness up to four days, or freezing individually on a baking sheet before transferring to a container to preserve for up to two months. Thaw frozen kisses in the refrigerator before serving.

- clove optional, for garnishing
Instructions
