Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon rum extract or 2 tablespoon rum for an adult version
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions
- Line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it for easy removal.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, heavy cream, and salt, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract and rum extract (or actual rum).
- Gradually stir in the powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it’s firm and fully set.
- Once chilled, remove the fudge from the dish and cut it into small squares.
