Chocolate Football Spoons Recipe
Description
The recipe begins with melting dark chocolate and butter together with optional flavor add-ins like creme de menthe or espresso vodka, which infuse the chocolate with subtle variations. The melted mixture is poured into wooden spoons resting on a baking tray for stability. After setting until firm, the spoons are decorated using a simple icing made from icing sugar and water, piped to mimic football laces.
This results in chocolate spoons that are both decorative and edible, suitable for gifting or serving as a novel confection. The ability to customize flavorings adds versatility. The assembly requires minimal cooking skills and the chocolate solidifies at room temperature or in the fridge.
The finished spoons provide a visually festive chocolate treat with a glossy finish and detailed icing decoration, offering flavors from straightforward dark chocolate to boozy or spiced variations, depending on add-ins.

Instructions
For the chocolate
- Melt chocolate, butter, and, if using, one of the optional add-ins in a small saucepan over low heat.

- In a small bowl, whisk the icing sugar and water. Add the icing to a pastry bag fitted with a tiny tip. You can also use a resealable plastic bag and cut the tip off of one of the corners.
To assemble
- Lay two wooden spoons on a baking tray. (This is to level the spoons.)
- Using a teaspoon, pour some chocolate into a spoon then gently tap the spoon on your counter to level the chocolate. Place the spoon on the baking tray, resting the handle on the wooden spoon. Repeat with the remaining spoons. Set aside until the chocolate is firm.
- Draw on the stitching using the icing so the spoons resemble a football. Let icing harden before serving.
