Chocolate Ladoo (Chocolate Almond Truffles)
Description
Chocolate Ladoo (Chocolate Almond Truffles) begin by simmering sweetened condensed milk and butter on low heat until the mixture thickens and starts to pull from the pan sides. Cocoa powder and almond flour are then stirred in to create a smooth, chocolatey paste. The cooked mixture is spread out on a buttered surface to cool until just warm enough to handle, facilitating shaping.
Portions of the semi-warm mixture are rolled into small, cherry-sized balls. Some are coated with finely chopped almonds, others with desiccated coconut, and some are left plain. This variety adds contrasting textures and flavor accents to each piece. The ladoos store well in an airtight container, maintaining softness and flavor.
These truffles balance the sweetness of condensed milk with the deep chocolate flavor and nutty almond flour, offering a tender, fudgy bite. They are suitable for gifting, dessert trays, or modest sweet snacks.
You can keep them on the counter for 3-4 days or refrigerate to prolong freshness, storing them in an airtight container for up to a week.
Ingredients
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14-oz
- 2 tablespoon butter or Ghee, unsalted
- 1 1/2 cup almond flour
- 5 tablespoon cocoa powder unsweetened
- 2-3 tablespoon almonds finely chopped
- 2 tablespoon desiccated coconut
Instructions
- Put the butter and condensed milk in a healthy bottom pan. Cook on low heat for about 8 minutes while stirring continuously. The mixture will thicken and start to leave the sides of the pan.
- Add the cocoa powder and almond flour to the mixture. Keep stirring to remove any lumps and make a smooth paste.
- Grease a large plate or baking dish with butter. Then pour the thick mixture on the plate and smooth with a spatula. Let it cool down a bit until it is safe to touch. We don't want it to cool down completely, but be a little warm, so it is easy to roll the balls.
- Take small portions of the mixture and roll each into cherry-sized balls. Dip some in chopped nuts, some in shredded cocomit and leave some plain.
- Store in air tight container for up to a week. You can be stored on the counter for 3-4 days, and in the refrigerator after that.
