Christmas Rice Krispie Treats

Report
These Christmas Rice Krispie Treats combine a rich coconut oil and cocoa base with the crunchy texture of rice cereal and the tartness of dried cranberries, all accented with warming spices like ginger and cinnamon. The mixture is melted together, then chilled to set, creating a firm but chewy treat that holds its shape well. The festive spices and combination of ingredients make this a seasonal variation ideal for holiday snacking or portion-controlled indulgence from the freezer.

Description

Christmas Rice Krispie Treats blend coconut oil, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract into a smooth syrup warmed gently on the stove. This syrup is then mixed with rice cereal, dried cranberries, and a hint of ground ginger and cinnamon to add seasonal warmth. Pressed into a lined dish and chilled in the freezer, the mixture solidifies into bars with a chewy, fudgy texture combined with the crisp snap of rice cereal.

The balance of bitter cocoa and the sweet maple syrup creates a rich flavor, while the dried cranberries contribute bursts of tartness. This treat can be sliced and served straight from the freezer, keeping it firm and helping with portion control. The recipe’s chilling step ensures clean slicing and an appealing texture.

Swapping dried cranberries for dried cherries is a simple way to adjust the flavor. To enhance the festive aroma, small additions like orange or peppermint extract can be stirred into the mixture before setting. These bars are great for holiday gatherings or whenever you want a seasonal, chocolatey snack with a textured bite.
