Coconut Balls
Description
This recipe blends desiccated coconut, condensed milk, and softened butter into a moist, sticky mixture shaped into balls. The option to coat the balls entirely in coconut creates a textured, coconut-forward bite, while dipping them in melted dark chocolate adds richness and a contrasting flavor layer. Sprinkling coconut onto chocolate-coated balls before the coating sets adds visual appeal and extra texture.
The balls firm up when refrigerated, allowing the ingredients to meld and the texture to become cohesive yet tender. This treat is sweet and moderately rich due to condensed milk and butter, with the coconut providing chewiness and mild nutty flavor. The versatility in coating options caters to different taste preferences.
Making adjustments to ball size affects the total yield. These no-bake treats are convenient for quick dessert needs or as finger foods for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 200 g desiccated coconut
- 200 g condensed milk
- 50 g butter soften
- 180 g dark chocolate (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add the desiccated coconut, soften butter and condensed milk.
- Use a spatula to mix everything together into a sticky mixture.
- Shape balls out of the mixture, I got 16, but you can get more or less depending on how big the balls are.
- If you decorate them with desiccated coconut only, coat each ball into coconut, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- If you wish to coat them in chocolate, break the chocolate into pieces, and add them to a bowl set over a pan of simmering water.
- When the chocolate is melted and smooth, add a ball at a time, and coat well, then use a fork to remove it from the chocolate, and transfer it to a tray lined with non-stick paper.
- If you want to add more coconut to them, sprinkle some before the chocolate sets.
- Refrigerate, then enjoy!
Notes
- Changing the size of the balls will affect how many you get from the mixture.
- Coating in desiccated coconut only provides a lighter coconut flavor and texture, while dipping in dark chocolate adds richness.
- Refrigerate the coconut balls at least 30 minutes before serving to firm them up properly.
