Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies

Report
Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies combine rolled oats, dried cranberries, and white chocolate chips in a buttery dough enhanced with cinnamon and vanilla. They bake into chewy yet slightly crisp cookies with a moderately sweet and warmly spiced flavor. They’re great for a casual snack or festive treat.

Description

Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies bring together softened butter, granulated and brown sugars, and an egg with vanilla extract for a rich base. Flour is combined with baking soda, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt to provide structure and mild spice. Rolled oats add chewiness, while dried cranberries contribute tart bursts, complemented by creamy white chocolate chips for sweetness.

Rolling the dough into balls and pressing them slightly before baking at 190°C/375°F creates cookies with a soft interior and gently crisp edges. Cooling on the baking tray then on a rack ensures the texture sets evenly.

These cookies suit casual occasions and can be presented with a dusting of icing sugar or a drizzle of melted chocolate for added festivity. They hold well after cooling, making them convenient for gatherings or to share.

To avoid overly spread cookies, chilling the dough before baking is recommended. Minimal mixing preserves tenderness by preventing toughness in the final cookie.

Notes

  • Add a small amount of rum or brandy to enhance the Christmas flavor profile.
  • Mix ingredients just until combined to prevent tough cookies.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes before shaping to reduce spreading during baking.
  • Allow 5cm (2in) spacing between cookies on the baking tray.
  • Let cookies cool fully—5 minutes on the tray then completely on a rack—before serving.
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate or dust with icing sugar for a festive touch.
