Cream filled coconut rolls
Description
For these rolls, heavy cream is whipped with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, with red food coloring added for a hint of color. Bread slices have their crusts trimmed and are flattened with a rolling pin. Both sides of the bread are brushed with milk infused with cardamom powder to add subtle spice and moisture.
The spiced bread slices are then spread with the cream and rolled carefully to maintain a tight shape. The rolls are coated in desiccated coconut, which adheres to the cream exterior.
This preparation is simple and does not require baking. The rolls can be served as a sweet snack or dessert, featuring soft bread, fragrant cardamom, rich cream, and coconut texture. Using plain bread allows the added flavors to shine.
Ingredients
- 12 lices bread
- ⅓ cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 2 drops red food coloring
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- desiccated coconut
Instructions
Prepare the cream to fill in the rolls
- Whip heavy cream using a beater or whisker after combining cream and powdered sugar in a chilled bowl.
- When peaks start appearing, add a few drops of colour and beat/ whisk until stiff peaks appear. Set aside
Prepare rolls
- Triff off the corners of bread slices.
- Flatten the slices with a rolling pin.
- Dampen these slices with cardamom-flavoured milk using a brush on both sides.
- Spread the cream on these slices and roll tightly but with a gentle pressure.
- Coat these rolled slices with dried coconut meat.
- And here you go with no-bake sweet cream rolls.
Notes
- Use plain white bread for best flavor absorption and to highlight the cardamom and cream filling.
- Remove crusts and flatten bread slices carefully to ensure smooth rolls.
- Chill the cream mixture and bowl before whipping to achieve better volume and stiffness.
