Crispy Bacon made in the Oven
Report
Baking bacon in the oven is one of the easiest mess-free ways to prepare it. With our special method it comes out perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious every single time.

Ingredients
- 12 ounces sliced bacon
Instructions
- Lay the bacon in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Place the bacon in a cold oven. Set the oven to 400˚F. Bake for 18-30 minutes, or until the bacon reaches desired level of crispiness.
- Remove from oven and use tongs to transfer the bacon to a paper towel lined plate to cool.
Notes
- I find that between 18-30 minutes is the range for almost all types of bacon. Thin bacon will be on the shorter side and thicker bacon will take longer.
- How to Store — To save leftovers, separate into meal sized portions and then place in an airtight container and store:
- How to Freeze — This recipe freezes well. It can be frozen before or after cooking. See "how to freeze" section in post for full details.
- How to Reheat — Reheat one or more pieces in microwave, skillet, or oven.
- Our special method adds the bacon to a cold oven. This helps to get the bacon perfectly crispy as it gets more intense heat as the oven heats up and then even heat as it finishes crisping.
- The time the bacon will need to cook can vary quite a bit depending on how thick the bacon is sliced and your preferred level of crispiness. I find that between 18-30 minutes is the range for almost all types of bacon. Thin bacon will be on the shorter side and thicker bacon will take longer.
- Some prefer to cook bacon on top of a wire rack on a baking sheet. I find the bacon gets crispier by frying in its own fat as it cooks, so my preferred method is to cook it straight on the pan.
- For easier clean up, you can line the baking sheet with a few sheets of foil and once the pan is cool, just wad it up and toss it out.
