Crockpot Pepper Steak Recipe

Report
Crockpot Pepper Steak is a slow-cooked dish that combines thin strips of round steak with thickly sliced green and red bell peppers and onions, simmered in a seasoned broth with soy sauce, brown sugar, and spices. The long, gentle cooking produces tender beef and soft vegetables in a savory sauce thickened at the end with cornstarch slurry.

Description

The recipe layers beef strips, bell peppers, and onions in a slow cooker, topped with a mixture of beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, ground ginger, and black pepper. The mixture cooks on low for 5-6 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the meat to become tender. Toward the end, a cornstarch and cold water slurry is stirred in to thicken the sauce during the final 30-60 minutes of cooking.

The finished pepper steak has tender meat and soft vegetables coated in a flavorful, slightly sweet and savory sauce. It's designed to be served over white rice, which soaks up the sauce and complements the dish's textures.

For firmer peppers, add them later in the cooking process—stirring them in for the last hour on low or 30 minutes on high—depending on your preferred texture.
