Ingredients
- 2 cups wine your favorite type
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 package liquid Certo Pectin
Instructions
- This mixture makes 2 pints. Sterilize the jars that you will use. In a medium sized pot combine wine and sugar. Mix well, and combine until all sugar is dissolved. Heat on medium high heat until the mixture boils. Boil for 1 minute, and then add the liquid Pectin. Allow mixture to return to a boil for one minute, and pour jelly into jars.
Notes
- The quality of the wine you choose directly impacts the flavor of your jelly. While you don't need to use an expensive bottle, select one that you enjoy drinking. Dry wines generally produce a more sophisticated jelly than lovely varieties, as you'll be adding sugar during preparation. For a special touch that makes beautiful gifts, consider layering different colored wine jellies in the same jar—just allow each layer to set before adding the next. Serving temperature also affects flavor expression—remove jelly from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before serving to allow the wine's aromatic compounds to open up, just as they would in a glass.
