Firecracker Salmon Recipe
Description
Firecracker Salmon Recipe centers on salmon fillets marinated in a vibrant mix of buffalo sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Before marinating, the salmon is seasoned with ground black pepper and paprika, which add a smoky and slightly spicy accent. Cooking involves pan-searing the salmon on medium heat to create a golden surface while maintaining a tender center, then the reserved marinade is boiled with the fish to intensify flavor and glaze the fillets.
The sauce balances sweetness from honey and acidity from rice vinegar with the heat of buffalo sauce, creating a dynamic glaze. Fresh minced chives and toasted sesame seeds sprinkled on top provide a fresh herbal note and a bit of nuttiness. This recipe suits a simple dinner served alongside steamed vegetables or rice where the salmon plays the main flavor role.
A quick option is available by skipping the marination step, simply searing the salmon and finishing with the sauce in the pan. This flexibility allows a flavorful meal even when short on time, preserving the characteristic taste and texture of the dish.
Ingredients
Firecracker Sauce
- ½ cup buffalo sauce
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons ginger grated ginger, minced garlic, each
- 2 teaspoons garlic grated ginger, minced garlic, each
The Salmon
- 4 ervings salmon skin removed
- 1 teaspoon black pepper mild or spicy paprika, each
- 1 teaspoon paprika mild or spicy paprika, each
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- chives to serve, minced chives
- sesame seeds to serve, minced chives
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl big enough to fit the salmon, mix the buffalo sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic.
- Dry the salmon with paper towels and then sprinkle both sides evenly with pepper and paprika.
- Put the salmon into the bowl with the sauce and mix it around so that it is covered. Put the bowl into the fridge to marinate for 30 minutes - see notes.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade (save the marinade!) and add the salmon to the pan. Cook for 3 minutes then carefully flip the salmon over and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Pour the reserved marinade over the salmon and bring it to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat then serve the salmon with minced chives and sesame seeds over top.
Notes
- Marinating the salmon for 30 minutes enhances flavor but can be skipped for a quicker preparation.
- When cooking, carefully flip the salmon to prevent breaking the fillets and maintain a neat presentation.
- Save the marinade before cooking to use as a glaze by boiling it in the pan with the salmon.
- Serve garnished with minced chives and sesame seeds to add freshness and texture contrast.
