Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs and legs
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 tablespoons seasoning salt
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon Louisiana chicken seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add the 2 pounds chicken thighs and legs, 3 cups buttermilk, and salt and pepper. Marinate for 1 hour or overnight.
  2. In a large bowl combine the 2 cups self-rising flour, 2 tablespoons seasoning salt, 2 tablespoons salt, 1 teaspoon Louisiana chicken seasoning , 1 tablespoon garlic powder, and 1 tablespoon onion powder.
  3. In a heavy bottomed skillet, add 1 inch of oil for frying to the pan. Heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Take the chicken out of the buttermilk and coat it with the flour mixture. Add to the oil to fry.
  5. Fry for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown and reach 165 degrees internal temperature.
