Garlic Soy Marinated Albacore

Garlic Soy Marinated Albacore features thin slices of sashimi-grade tuna brushed with a warm garlic-infused soy sauce. The marinade combines toasted sesame oil infused with sliced garlic, soy sauce, scallion, and grated ginger to create a savory, aromatic glaze. This dish highlights the delicate texture of albacore tuna and is typically served immediately with optional yuzu tobiko for a pop of briny contrast.

Description

This recipe offers a delicate preparation of albacore tuna sliced thinly and topped with a garlic soy sauce made by heating toasted sesame oil with garlic slices, then simmering briefly with soy sauce. Fresh scallion slices and grated ginger add sharpness and complexity on top. By not cooking the fish beyond slicing and brushing, the tuna maintains its raw, tender consistency, similar to sashimi.

The sauce's warming step helps infuse the sesame oil with garlic flavor, while the soy provides saltiness and umami. The scallion and ginger enhance the freshness and brightness, balancing the richness of the fish and oil. The optional yuzu-flavored tobiko garnish adds a light citrusy and textural element, complementing the sauce and tuna.

Serve this dish immediately after assembling to preserve the freshness and texture of the albacore. The preparation is suitable for a light appetizer or a refined seafood course, pairing well with simple side dishes or rice to complement the strong soy and garlic flavors.
