Giant Cookie Recipe

Report
This Giant Cookie Recipe creates a large, cake-pan cookie that is soft and rich, loaded with chocolate chips. The dough, made with butter, sugars, eggs, vanilla, and baking soda, is spread in a greased round pan, baked until golden and set, and then decorated as desired. It serves as a fun, shareable dessert or treat for celebrations.

Description

The Giant Cookie uses softened butter creamed with white and brown sugars, flavored with vanilla, then combined with eggs and dry ingredients including flour, salt, and baking soda. Chocolate chips are folded in by hand to distribute throughout the batter.

The batter is spread evenly in a greased 14-inch round pan lined optionally with foil for easy removal. Baking at 375°F for about 20 to 25 minutes yields a cookie that is set with golden edges and a tender crumb center. Cooling in the pan before transferring to a pizza pan facilitates handling.

This recipe is well-suited for parties or birthday treats, offering a giant, shareable cookie rather than individual ones. Decorating after baking adds a personalized touch.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 egg
  • cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (I just throw in two handfuls)

Instructions

  1. In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
  2. Slowly add flour, salt, and baking soda, beating until well blended.
  3. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
  4. Spread in greased 14 inch round cake pan. Personally, I like to cover in foil and then grease the foil. It makes removing the cookie cake much easier.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Cool cookie in pan on a cooling rack and then remove and place on a pizza pan.
  6. Decorate and enjoy.

Notes

  • This giant cookie is ideal for birthday celebrations and can be decorated as desired.
  • Using foil to line the pan and greasing the foil helps in easy removal of the cookie cake.
