Greek Lemon Chicken Skewers with Tzatziki Sauce

This recipe combines lemon-marinated chicken breast cubes grilled to juicy perfection with a cooling tzatziki sauce made from cucumber, yogurt, lemon, and dill. The marinade uses aromatic herbs like oregano, cumin, and coriander, providing a well-balanced Mediterranean flavor. The tzatziki sauce offers creamy, tangy contrast to the smoky chicken skewers, creating a refreshing and satisfying dish for grilling occasions or casual meals.

Description

Greek Lemon Chicken Skewers with Tzatziki Sauce features bite-sized chicken pieces marinated in lemon juice, red wine vinegar, garlic, and Mediterranean herbs such as oregano, cumin, and coriander. The chicken is threaded onto skewers and grilled over medium-high heat, which imparts a lightly charred exterior while keeping the interior tender. The acidity of the lemon and vinegar in the marinade helps to tenderize the meat and brightens the overall flavor profile.

The accompanying tzatziki sauce is made by combining shredded cucumber with plain Greek yogurt, fresh dill, lemon juice, and garlic, creating a creamy and tangy dip that complements the grilled chicken. Squeezing out excess moisture from the cucumber ensures the sauce is not watery, maintaining a smooth consistency. This cool sauce balances the warm, herbed chicken skewers, making the dish suitable for warm-weather meals or barbecues.

Serve the skewers alongside the tzatziki sauce as a dip or drizzle. They pair well with simple sides like rice, flatbreads, or a fresh Greek salad. This combination highlights classic Greek flavors through straightforward preparation and balanced seasoning.
