Healthy Carrot and Apple Mince Pies

These healthy carrot and apple mince pies combine diced apple and orange with grated carrot, raisins, and warm cinnamon inside a shortcrust pastry shell topped with pastry stars. The fruit mixture is cooked gently until soft, providing a naturally sweet and spiced filling. Baking the pies until golden creates a crisp crust that envelops a tender, juicy interior, making these pies a flavorful treat that balances fruit sweetness and spice.

Description

Healthy Carrot and Apple Mince Pies feature a filling made from diced apples and oranges combined with grated carrot, raisins, orange juice and zest, maple syrup, and cinnamon. The fruit and carrot filling is gently heated to soften and meld flavors before being spooned into shortcrust pastry cases. Each pie is topped with decorative pastry stars to seal in the filling.

The pies bake quickly at a high temperature until the pastry turns golden and crisp, creating a pleasant textural contrast with the soft, juicy filling. The combination of fresh fruit, warm spices, and natural sweetness offers a subtle dessert or snack option that isn’t overly sugary.

These individual pies can be served simply on their own or accompanied by cream or yogurt for added richness. Their size and shape make them suitable for shareable treats or packed lunches.
