My Stollen recipe, also known as German Christmas Bread, has dried fruit that has been soaked in rum, candied orange peels, raisins, and a whole lot of flavor!

  • 1 ⅓ cups (6 ½ oz/185g) candied citrus peel
  • cup almond finely chopped
  • ½ cup dark rum
  • 1 cup milk lukewarm
  • 3 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar divided, plus 6 tablespoons
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 egg large yolks
  • ¾ cup butter softened, 6 oz/170g
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • lemon zest of one
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¾ teaspoon mace ground
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup marzipan
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
