My Stollen recipe, also known as German Christmas Bread, has dried fruit that has been soaked in rum, candied orange peels, raisins, and a whole lot of flavor!

- 2 cups raisin
- 1 ⅓ cups (6 ½ oz/185g) candied citrus peel
- ⅔ cup almond finely chopped
- ½ cup dark rum
- 1 cup milk lukewarm
- 3 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar divided, plus 6 tablespoons
- 4½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg large
- 2 egg large yolks
- ¾ cup butter softened, 6 oz/170g
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- lemon zest of one
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ teaspoon ground cardamom
- ¾ teaspoon mace ground
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup marzipan
- ½ cup butter melted
- 4 cups powdered sugar
