Homemade Yakisoba Sauce Recipe

This Homemade Yakisoba Sauce blends oyster sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to create a bold, tangy, and slightly sweet seasoning perfect for stir-fried noodles. The sauce is mixed and warmed to dissolve sugar, then adjusted to taste to complement noodle dishes without overpowering them.

Description

Homemade Yakisoba Sauce combines savory oyster sauce and soy sauce with the sweetness of ketchup and sugar, rounded out by the tang of Worcestershire sauce. Mixing these ingredients and gently warming helps dissolve the sugar and meld the flavors into a unified, punchy seasoning base.

This sauce is traditionally used with yakisoba noodles but can enhance other stir-fried noodle dishes like ramen or udon. Its balanced profile complements vegetables, meats, and noodles by adding sweet, savory, and umami notes in a convenient, ready-to-use form.

The sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Adjust sweetness or saltiness by adding more sugar or a pinch of salt to suit personal taste preferences.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce , or vegan stir-fry sauce
  • tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce , I use Lea & Perrins

Instructions

  1. Combine the oyster sauce, soy sauce, ketchup and sugar in a small bowl. Mix until the sugar has dissolved. You can microwave the mixture in a microwavable bowl for 20 seconds to help the sugar dissolve.
  2. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Taste and season with more sugar for a sweeter sauce or a pinch of salt for a savoury boost – until the sauce is balanced to your liking. It should be punchy and bold in flavour because you will only add 2 tablespoons per portion of noodles.

Notes

  • This sauce pairs well with various noodles, including yakisoba, ramen, and udon.
  • Store in a sealed container refrigerated for up to two weeks.
  • Warm gently before use to blend flavors and dissolve sugar completely.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with extra sugar or salt to balance sweetness and savoriness.
