Honey Garlic Chicken

Honey Garlic Chicken features thin chicken breasts coated in flour, pan-fried in butter, then glazed with a sauce made from garlic, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. The result is tender, flavorful chicken with a sticky, sweet-savory sauce that clings well due to the flour coating, making it suitable served over rice, potatoes, or vegetables.

Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken recipe starts with chicken breasts thinly sliced or halved and seasoned with salt and pepper. Coated in all-purpose flour, the chicken is quickly pan-fried in butter until golden and cooked through. The flour coating helps the sauce stick evenly to the chicken while providing a slight crispness.

The sauce is made by adding minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and honey to the pan with the cooked chicken and butter. This mixture creates a balance of sweet and tangy flavors with a savory undertone from the soy sauce. It simmers briefly to thicken slightly and coat the chicken thoroughly.

Serve it hot alongside rice, potatoes, or vegetables to make a complete meal. The method allows flexibility to substitute cornstarch for flour to make the dish gluten-free or omit flour entirely if preferred.

Notes

  • Use cornstarch instead of flour for a gluten-free option or skip flour, but note the sauce may not adhere as well.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked through and no longer pink before serving to guarantee food safety.
  • The sauce can be adjusted with additional honey for sweeter flavor or extra vinegar for more tang.
  • This recipe is adapted from Recipe Tin Eats with adjusted amounts of butter, garlic, and vinegar.
