Honey Lemon Chicken Recipe
Description
This recipe uses boneless chicken thighs seasoned and floured before pan-frying in a mix of olive oil and butter until golden brown on each side and cooked through. The honey lemon sauce is made by combining cornstarch, chicken stock, honey, fresh lemon juice, soy sauce, ginger, and finely minced garlic. After the chicken is cooked, the sauce is poured into the pan and boiled briefly until it thickens and clings to the chicken.
The resulting dish offers tender meat with a crisp exterior surrounded by a bright, sweet, and slightly savory sauce. The ginger and garlic provide aromatic depth, balancing the tangy lemon and honey sweetness. Serving with thinly sliced green onions and lemon wedges complements the flavor and adds a fresh note.
This chicken recipe works well for a main protein at lunch or dinner and pairs nicely with rice or steamed vegetables to complete the meal.
Ingredients
- 8 chicken thigh boneless
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour or cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- green onion to serve, thinly sliced; slices
- lemon to serve, thinly sliced; slices
Honey Lemon Sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup chicken stock
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup lemon juice fresh is best
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce gluten-free if needed
- 1 teaspoon ginger grated
- 2 cloves garlic finely minced
Instructions
- Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper. Place the flour into a shallow bowl and dredge the chicken in the flour.
- Mix the cornstarch and chicken stock in a mixing glass. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and mix well.
- Heat the oil and butter over medium heat in a large cast iron or non-stick skillet. Add the chicken thighs and cook until they are golden on one side, about 6 minutes. Flip the chicken over and cook for 5 minutes more, until they are cooked through.
- Give the sauce a quick stir and then pour it over the chicken. Mix it around in the pan and let it boil until it thickens, about 1 minute.
- Serve the chicken with sprinkled with thinly sliced green onions and lemon slices on the side.
