Juicy Baked Pork Chops Recipe

These juicy baked pork chops are seasoned with a simple blend of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and oregano. Coated in olive oil and baked uncovered, they achieve a tender and flavorful finish. Baking time is calculated based on chop thickness to ensure perfect doneness. The resting step helps juices redistribute, resulting in moist pork chops that retain their flavors for a satisfying meal.

Description

The Juicy Baked Pork Chops Recipe focuses on boneless pork chops seasoned with a balanced mixture of dry spices including paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder, among others. The chops are lightly oiled and baked uncovered at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Baking time depends on the thickness of the chops, typically 7 minutes per half inch, ensuring the pork reaches a safe internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. After baking, resting the pork chops in the pan for five minutes aids in retaining their moisture.

The seasoning blend delivers a savory and herbaceous flavor profile without overwhelming the meat’s natural taste. Using boneless pork chops simplifies preparation and allows even cooking. The method creates a lightly crisped exterior while keeping the interior juicy. The recipe suggests choosing a baking dish that fits the pork chops snugly to avoid excess evaporation of juices.

This recipe works well as an entrée accompanied by vegetables, rice, or potatoes. The seasoning and baking technique are straightforward, so the pork chops maintain a comforting and familiar home-cooked character.

Notes advise that pork chops should be at least one inch thick for best results, with recommended baking times adjusted for thickness and bone-in variants. Elevation affects cooking times slightly. Proper rest and selecting an appropriate dish size contribute to the final texture and juiciness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 4 pork chops boneless

Instructions

  1. Turn your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Measure the thickness of your pork chops so you know how long to bake them - see note 1 and 2.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  3. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over both sides of the pork chops. Sprinkle the spice mix evenly over both sides of the pork chops, then place them in a baking dish. (See note 3.) Drizzle them with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  4. Bake the pork chops uncovered for 7 minutes per ½ inch of thickness, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit - for 1 ½ inch pork chops, you'll bake them for 21 minutes. Once you remove them from the oven, let them rest in the pan for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use pork chops at least 1 inch thick for best baking results.
  • Adjust baking time to 7 minutes per ½ inch thickness for boneless chops, 8 minutes per ½ inch for bone-in.
  • Choose a baking dish that fits the pork chops closely to retain juices during cooking.
  • Let pork chops rest for 5 minutes after baking to allow juices to redistribute.
  • Cooking times may need adjustment if you are at a higher elevation.
