Key Lime Pie Milkshake
Description
This milkshake uses yogurt, lime juice, and lime gelatin to capture the tart and creamy character of a key lime pie in drink form. Protein powder is added for texture and nutrition, while almond milk thins the mixture to a blendable consistency. Cool whip contributes to the shake’s creamy body and lightness. The milkshake can be made thicker by reducing almond milk or adding avocado as an optional enhancement. Crumbled graham crackers on the rim and as a topping provide a crunchy contrast and mimic the classic pie crust.
Blending all ingredients until smooth ensures even distribution of flavors and a pleasant texture. The milkshake is meant to be consumed immediate to enjoy the fresh, creamy, and tangy qualities. Dairy-free versions can be made by selecting suitable yogurt and cool whip alternatives, adapting the recipe to dietary preferences.
Ingredients
- 150 g yogurt 1 container, vanilla or coconut
- 30 g protein powder 1 scoop, vanilla or unflavored
- 15 g graham cracker crumbled
- ¼ cup almond milk unsweetened, vanilla
- 3 tbsp Cool Whip fat-free
- 1 tbsp lime juice fresh
- ½ tbsp lime gelatin sugar-free
- ½ tsp xanthan gum optional
Instructions
- Pour yogurt, almond milk, lime juice, lime gelatin, and Cool Whip into a blender. Pulse for 15 seconds or until completely mixed.
- Add in a scoop of protein powder and xanthan gum. Blend for 15 seconds or until protein powder is fully dissolved. You may need to add a splash or two more of nut milk depending on your blender to achieve desired consistency.
- If you’re feeling fancy, you can line the rim of your glass with yogurt and then coat it in graham crackers.
- Pour milkshake into glass and top with extra dollop of cool whip. Top with remaining crumbles of graham cracker.
- Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- Use dairy-free yogurt and cool whip to make the milkshake dairy-free.
- Adjust thickness by varying the amount of almond milk or adding ¼ avocado.
- For an attractive presentation, coat glass rims with yogurt and graham cracker crumbs before pouring.
- Consume immediately for the best texture and flavor experience.
