Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef 90% lean, lean
- 3 garlic minced, cloves
- ¼ cup carrot shredded
- ¼ cup red bell pepper diced
- ¼ cup brown sugar packed
- ¼ cup soy sauce or reduced-sodium
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon gochujang more if desired, Korean chili sauce
- 10 leaves butter lettuce Boston and iceberg lettuce will also work
- green onion sliced; for garnish
- sesame seeds sliced; for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 pound lean ground beef, and cook until no longer pink.
- Stir in 3 garlic cloves, minced, ¼ cup shredded carrots, and ¼ cup diced red bell pepper. Cook for 4 minutes or until the vegetables soften.
- In a small bowl, whisk ¼ cup packed brown sugar, ¼ cup soy sauce, 2 teaspoons sesame oil ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, and 1 teaspoon Gochujang Korean chili sauce,. Pour over the ground beef and let simmer for 2 minutes.
- To serve, add ¼ cup of the beef mixture to a large leaf of the 10 leaves butter lettuce,. Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
