Matcha Cookies Recipe

Matcha cookies combine the earthiness of green tea powder with sweet white chocolate chips in a soft, chewy cookie. The dough balances matcha’s slight bitterness with brown and granulated sugars, resulting in a tender texture and subtle flavor complexity. Baking to light golden brown edges ensures a satisfying bite with a delicate crumb.

Description

These matcha cookies blend matcha powder into a cookie dough made from creamed butter and sugars, providing a tender and slightly chewy texture. The addition of baking soda and salt balances the flavors and contributes to proper rise. White chocolate chips add sweetness and a creamy contrast to the slightly bitter green tea flavor. After mixing, the dough is portioned into evenly sized scoops, slightly pressed, then baked until edges are lightly browned but centers remain soft.

The cookies cool briefly on the pan before transferring to a rack to finish cooling, allowing them to set without overbaking. This cookie pairs well with tea or coffee for a subtle, sweet treat featuring matcha’s distinct flavor.
