Mediterranean Pizza
Description
This Mediterranean Pizza begins with shaping dough into a 12-inch circle or rectangle on parchment paper. A garlic butter mixture, made by melting butter with minced garlic, is brushed on the raw dough providing a rich, savory base flavor. Shredded mozzarella covers the dough before layering with sliced green and black olives and artichoke hearts.
Baked on a preheated pizza stone at 500 degrees Fahrenheit, the crust crisps and the cheese melts to form a bubbly topping. After baking, fresh diced tomatoes and sliced green onions are added to bring freshness and a crisp contrast to the warm pizza. The combination results in a pizza with a crunchy edge, gooey cheese, and a mix of savory and bright Mediterranean flavors.
This pizza can serve as a light meal or pair well with a salad. The after-bake addition of tomatoes and onions helps preserve their freshness and texture. The recipe allows for making multiple dishes as it uses half the dough, saving the rest for other breads or pizzas.
