Mushroom Swiss Burger
Create the most juicy and flavorful Mushroom Swiss Burger with this easy recipe! The burger is perfectly seasoned with Worcestershire sauce and steak seasoning, while the sauteed mushrooms add a wonderful umami flavor. The burger is finished with melted swiss cheese for a delicious layer of creaminess. This dish has it all, and is guaranteed to become your new favorite burger recipe!
Ingredients
Mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound sliced baby bella mushrooms or sliced white button mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Burgers
- 1 pound ground beef 80/20
- 1 tablespoon steak seasoning click link for the recipe
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 lices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns recommended: brioche buns
Instructions
Sauteed Mushrooms
- Prepare the mushrooms by adding the butter and olive oil to a large skillet on the stove over medium-high heat.
- Once the butter has melted, add the mushrooms and worcestershire sauce to the skillet, stir to combine everything in the skillet, then cook for 5 minutes without stirring.
- After 5 minutes, add the broth to the skillet and allow it to evaporate, this will take approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Once almost all of the liquid has cooked out of the skillet, add the minced garlic and black pepper to the skillet with the mushrooms.
- Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, remove from the heat and set aside.
Burgers
- Prepare the burger patties by combining the ground beef, steak seasoning and worcestershire sauce in a large bowl. Form into four 4 ounce patties.
- Heat a grill to medium-high heat.
- Once the grill is hot, add the burgers and grill for 4-5 minutes per side.
- During the last 1-2 minutes of cooking time, place a piece of swiss cheese on each burger patty.
- Place the buns on the grill to toast.
- Remove the burgers from the grill and allow them to rest on a cutting board for 3-5 minutes before placing them on the buns.
- Place the burgers on the toasted buns, top with the sauteed mushrooms and add any other optional toppings of your choice.

- Cooking a one inch thick burger for 4-5 minutes per side over medium-high heat will result in a medium burger. If you’d like your burger medium-well, add 1 minute per side. If you’d like well-done burgers, cook them for 6-7 minutes per side.
- The mushrooms can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 7 days. When you’re ready to grill and assemble the burgers, simply heat the mushrooms up in a skillet on the stove over medium-high heat for 5 minutes, or in the microwave for 2 minutes.
- This recipe can be made on the stove. Simply cook the burgers on a grill pan, cast iron skillet, or the heaviest skillet you have available. Place the skillet on the stove over medium-high heat and cook for the burgers for 4-5 minutes per side. Add the swiss cheese on top during the last 1-2 minutes of cook time.
