Ingredients
- 70 g rolled oats
- 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 banana
- 1 egg
- 8 tablespoon whole milk
- 2 tablespoon Homemade Nutella melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
To serve
- Melted Nutella, Greek yogurt and strawberries (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle maker.
- Place 70 g Rolled oats in a blender and blend until it makes a powder. Put in a large bowl and add 0.5 teaspoon Baking powder and 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon.
- Put 1 Banana, 1 Egg, 8 tablespoon Whole milk, 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract and 2 tablespoon Homemade Nutella (melted) into a blender and blend until smooth. Add the wet liquid to the oat flour and mix until smooth.
- Grease your waffle maker and using a ladle, add the mixture to your heated waffle maker (it should make 4 waffles depending on the size of your waffle maker), close the lid and cook according to the instructions of your waffle maker. These take around 5 minutes in our waffle maker.
- Serve hot with Melted Nutella, Greek yogurt and strawberries on top.
Notes
- Don't over mix the waffle batter, as this will make the waffles too dense.
- You can swap the oat flour for plain flour to make these waffles lighter.
- If you don't have time to make our homemade healthier Nutella, then you can use store bought instead.
- Give these waffles a fruit boost by mixing some blueberries in to the waffle mixture.
- You can use this mixture to make mini waffles.
- Add some extra flavour with a drop of orange essence. The chocolate and orange combination works really well together.
- Don't open the waffle iron up halfway through cooking. This risks the waffles breaking.
- If you are making a big batch of waffles, you can keep them warm in the oven at a low temperature (135°C/275°F/Gas 1) for 5 minutes whilst the rest of them cook.
- We used skimmed milk, but you can swap it for any milk, even a plant based one.
- To ensure this recipe is definitely gluten free, use oats that are certified gluten free.
