Oreo Spiders
Description
The Oreo Spiders recipe transforms classic Oreo cookies into spider-shaped treats using pretzel sticks for legs and edible eyes for a spooky effect. The pretzels are snapped in half and inserted evenly on each side of the Oreo, giving the appearance of spider legs. Honey is used as an adhesive to affix the eyes securely on the chocolate surface.
This preparation keeps the cookie intact while adding crunchy elements from the pretzel legs and a bit of stickiness from the honey to hold everything together. It requires no baking and minimal assembly, relying on gentle handling to keep the Oreo and pretzels from breaking.
They make a fun addition to Halloween parties or as a creative snack for children, offering a playful presentation without complexity. Simple ingredient swaps or adjustments, such as using melted chocolate instead of honey, can be made if necessary for better adhesion.
Ingredients
- 8 Oreo biscuits
- 32 pretzel sticks snapped in half
- 16 edible eyes
- 1 teaspoon honey
Instructions
- Snap (or cut) the pretzel sticks in half and push 4 into each side of the Oreo to create legs.
- Using the end of a teaspoon handle, put a dot of honey on the back of the eyes and stick them to the Oreo.
Notes
- If pretzel sticks are too thick to insert into the Oreo sides, carefully twist the cookie apart, insert the legs, add melted chocolate inside, then reassemble to hold firmly.
- For a stronger hold on the edible eyes, use melted chocolate instead of honey, especially if the eyes tend to slide off.
