Pork Belly Slices Recipe

Pork Belly Slices are prepared by cutting skinless pork belly into half-inch strips, seasoning with a blend of paprika, onion and garlic powders, oregano, brown sugar, salt, and pepper, then baked until dark golden and crispy. This method yields tender, flavorful strips with a balanced smoky and slightly sweet spice rub, suitable for enjoying as a snack or part of a meal.

Description

This Pork Belly Slices Recipe starts with pork belly trimmed of skin and sliced into uniform ½-inch strips to ensure even cooking. The seasoning comprises sweet paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper, creating a savory-sweet dry rub that enhances the pork's rich flavor. The strips are coated thoroughly with the spice mix before being arranged on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Baking at 400°F first for 30 minutes, then flipping and cooking for an additional 20 to 30 minutes achieves a crispy, dark golden exterior and tender interior. The suggested technique for slicing pork belly upside down helps with ease and consistency. If buying pre-sliced pork belly, thinner slices should be checked earlier for tenderness. The resulting dish can be served as a flavorful protein addition or snack, boasting balanced spices and crisp texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 lb pork belly cut into ½ inch strips - SEE NOTES, skinless
  • 1 teaspoon paprika sweet
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder each
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut the pork belly into ½ inch strips and dry them well with a paper towel.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sprinkle the spices evenly over both sides of the pork belly strips then move the strips onto the baking sheet.
  4. Bake the pork belly strips for 30 minutes. Turn them over and then continue to cook them for another 20-30 minutes, until they're dark golden brown and crispy - SEE NOTES.

Notes

  • For easiest slicing, turn pork belly upside down to slice from the meat side.
  • Pre-sliced pork belly can be used; adjust baking time as thinner strips may cook faster.
  • Check pork belly after 30 minutes of baking; if tender and well-browned, it can be removed.
